Online Counseling

Therapy is a very personal process, and sometimes it is hard to find the right therapist that is also in your neighborhood. Even if you live in the Las Vegas valley, you might not want to drive 30 to 45 minutes once a week to see a therapist. Luckily, technology has created a way for you to get the therapy that you want from the comfort of your own home with virtual therapy. At Richer Life Counseling, our therapists are trained to work with clients online.

Why Have Online Therapy Sessions?

Richer Life Counseling office is located in the middle of Las Vegas. Yet, not everyone in Las Vegas can come to office sessions. There are a lot of reasons why teletherapy can be helpful.

  • You are unable to get a babysitter, so you can fit your online therapy session during nap time.
  • You live in a rural area of Nevada. You want to do online marriage counseling because there is no therapist in a close distance to you.
  • You live in Las Vegas but are going to go to UNR and want to keep therapy going.
  • You will be able to do early morning or late evening sessions when your therapist might not usually be in the office.

The research has shown that access to therapy is helpful, and there is not much a difference between online therapy and in-person therapy.

How Does E-Therapy Work?

We don’t use Skype for therapy or anything that you would need to download. At Richer Life Counseling, we use a video therapy system that is 100% safe and confidential. You will get an email with a link, and once you follow that link to a web browser, you are logged into your session. It’s that easy! You can do your session at home on a computer or even from your phone. We do always want to know your physical location, and we encourage you to take steps to keep your session confidential. The hardest part of starting online therapy is just making the initial appointment.

Questions you might be asking yourself about online therapy?

Do you work with people outside of Nevada?

This is a complicated question. If you live in Nevada, all of our therapists on staff will be able to work with you through online counseling. If you live in another state or country, please contact us and ask which therapist we have on-staff who are currently licensed in your state or country.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Online therapy is just like in-person therapy! Everything you talk to the therapist about is confidential., except for the BIG 4 (if you are going to commit suicide or homicide, or you report child or elder abuse). Teletherapy requires that you take the steps necessary to create confidentiality for yourself by being in a room where you will not be overheard and wearing earphones.

Do you work with my issue?

In our practice, we have Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors who have experience working with a wide range of client populations. Check out our specialization list (located on this page, depending on how you are accessing this page). Don’t see your specific issues listed? That’s ok. We can still help you, just contact us with what you are looking for. If we do not have the ability or expertise to work with your issues, we will help you find someone who can.

Does it have to be video? Can it be text or over the phone?

This is up to you and your therapist on how therapy will take place. The therapist staff at Richer Life Counseling uses email, text, and phone calls with our existing clients. Your first session will need to be a video session or an in-person session, then you and your therapist can talk about in which way therapy can take place.

How do I know if this is legitimate online therapy?

As we stated above, online therapy can be beneficial for you if you are unable to make it to the therapist’s office. You will want to make sure that your therapist is licensed in the state in which you are currently living. Licensed therapist means that your state has done a background check and has ensured that they have the appropriate education and training. Each state has different requirements, so to work with a therapist, they should be licensed in your state. (some states give a little grace period, but that is something you and your therapist should be talking about).
